We are honored to add your vacation home to our Donor Home Database. Thank you so much for offering time in your property to deserving veterans. As vacation homeowners, you know well how priceless are the memories that are made on vacations, and your gift of time is really so much more than that.
Timeshare Owners: If you have a timeshare week that you would like to donate, please be advised that do to the nature of this charity, we cannot guarantee that your timeshare week will be chosen by one of our veterans. Please donate your timeshare week only if you will not be using it, and cannot otherwise give it away to a friend or family member. We appreciate your generosity, but we certainly don't want your timeshare week to expire unused!
Vacations For Veterans ensures that the vacation home donor can experience the joy
of giving with as little worry as possible. We take care to see that veterans are
matched with homes that suit their needs. A thorough application and screening process
is in place to give you confidence with your decision to participate.
How it Works
- Donors fill out the Online Application which uploads their vacation home to our
website
- Veterans apply to the program and are screened and verified by our volunteer staff
- Once verified, veterans search the vacation homes and select their top three choices
- Our staff contacts the vacation homeowners to see if the selected week is available,
and to ensure that the veteran and his or her traveling party is acceptable to the
vacation homeowner
- The homeowner agrees to reserve that week for the veteran.
- The veteran proceeds to make travel plans and is given the homeowner’s vacation
home point of contact for the remaining travel arrangements
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can be a Donor?
Anyone fortunate enough to own a vacation property and willing to donate a week
of time in it to a wounded veteran.
How much time can I donate?
One week is the minimum donation time, and there is no cap on the amount of time
that you can donate to veterans.
What is the visiting timeframe?
Veterans arrive and vacate according to your standard rental week policy.
Can I donate only off-peak weeks?
We are grateful for any donation of time that you can give.
What about possible damages?
During the week the veteran is at your property each vacation homeowner should treat the veteran as they would any other paying renter, and require the veteran to pay the standard security deposit. We also encourage homeowners to have the veteran sign whatever rental contracts or agreements that they normally require paying renters to sign.
What is your pet and smoking policy?
Vacations for Veterans has a strict No Pets and No Smoking policy. Veterans and their families will not be accompanied by pets, nor smoke in any donated vacation home. Special circumstances such as the veterans requiring registered assistance dogs will be matched only with homes that allow pets. Vacations for Veterans also requests that all veterans adopt a No Smoking policy unless otherwise indicated by the individual vacation homeowner.
Who are the recipients?
The program is for veterans recently wounded on Active Duty in the United States
Armed Forces.
Does Vacations for Veterans pay for my cleaning fees?
As a new charity, Vacations for Veterans does not have the funds to pay for cleaning fees at this time. However, the homeowner may consider these costs as deductible charitable contributions.
How do I proceed and what happens next?
Simply fill out our online form. When a veteran has selected your home, a staff
member will contact you to determine availability, suitability and final approval
by you. Only then will the veteran receive your vacation home point of contact information
to finalize arrangements.
